ABOUT ME
Brief history as a homeopath doctor
Born in Mumbai, India and with both parents as medical practitioners, and grandmother as a homeopath, I grew up with medicine around me. From the early stages in my life, I was fortunate to be able to appreciate the differences in the basic principles as well as the scope and limitations of both modern medicine and homeopathic medicine. I also witnessed how both could be used in conjunction to improve the health of a patient.
I qualified as a Homeopath in Mumbai, India after doing my Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.) in 1993. After five and half years of full-time intensive training, I gained further experience for a year in the Institute of Clinical Research of Homeopathy (I.C.R) in India. My clinical rotations as a junior resident doctor helped further to sharpen my practical medical skills.
I had an opportunity to study under the guidance of some of the most prominent homeopaths namely Dr. Praful Barvalia, Dr. Rajan Sankaran, Dr. Farokh Master and Dr. G. Vithoulkas. Dr. Barvalia is my mentor and guide and I shall always owe him my sincere gratitude for his everlasting support and guidance.
In 1995, I initially started my independent clinical practice in Mumbai, India and subsequently after marriage set up my practice in Dublin, Ireland (2000–2009) and Leeds, UK (2010-2015). Currently, I live and practice in Swansea, UK since 2016.

CONSULTATION

Homeopathy is a gentle, non-toxic, non-addictive line of medical treatment.
Homeopathic prescription unlike modern medicine is not entirely based on the disease diagnosis. It is a tailor-made medicine for each individual seeking help. It gives importance to the cause of illness, conditions which cause aggravation or relieving factors and its effect on an emotional plane. Homeopathy treats the person and not just the expression of disease.
Pre-Consultation-
The patient needs to fill an appropriate medical form provided below and mail/email it back to me. It gives me a chance to collect detailed information about your childhood, vaccination, and milestones as well as your current illness and its progress.
First Consultation
For ACUTE illness, the consultation is usually short lasting approximately 30-40 minutes. The primary focus is on the chief complaint and its effects. Remedy will be prescribed for quick relief of symptoms.
For CHRONIC/RECURRENT illness, consultation can last up to 90 minutes. It involves detailed questioning regarding present and past illnesses. It also involves a discussion about your personality, diet, lifestyle, and its associated stresses. Based on the above information a homeopathic medicine will be prescribed.
Follow up appointment
To assess the progress and response to treatment you will be booked in for a follow up appointment in about 3 to 6 weeks. Once optimal health is attained, patients are advised annual follow up.
FAQ
Human body has an immune system which protects us from disease to keeps us healthy. However, if a disease persists or recurs, it can lead to distress of your daily life. Homeopathic medicines (also called remedies) assist to strengthen this immune system which is the key to your health. These remedies work in removing the root cause of the problem, without suppressing disease and, hence restoring the disturbed balance.
Most common Homeopathic remedies are made mainly from natural sources like plants, minerals, animals, and their products. Examples – remedies are made from calendula plant, common salt (NaCl), bee and snake venom.
They are made in Special Regulated Pharmacies by using a standardized process of dilution and succession (a form of vigorous shaking and centrifugal rotational movement). The above technique releases the healing energy of the inert substance and enhances its curative strength. It makes the substance safe, non-toxic and without side effects. To make it easy to ingest, the medicated liquid is poured on sweet sucrose or lactose pills. They can be dispensed in the form of liquid, pills, tablets, powder or rubbed topically.
Homeopathy is based on the principle of like cures like or Law of Similars. Example: drinking too much coffee can cause sleeplessness, agitation, and palpitations, but when made into the homeopathic remedy Coffee it may be used to treat people with insomnia, panic nervous attacks. This law states that substance that can cause a disease can also to relieve it. This concept is sometimes used in conventional medicine, for example, the stimulant Ritalin is used to treat patients with ADHD, or small doses of allergens such as pollen are sometimes used to de-sensitize allergic patients. However, one major difference with homeopathic medicines is that substances are used in ultra-high dilutions, which makes them non-toxic.
It has been widely used around the world for over 200 years. Homeopathy is one of the five government recognized Group one complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) - these are, homeopathy, acupuncture, osteopathy, chiropractic, and herbal medicine.
All age groups including newborn, children, adult, pregnant women, and the elderly can safely use Homeopathic medicines. Homeopathic medicines have no adverse effects and can be taken with other conventional drugs.
Patients not responding well to conventional multidrug treatment or experiencing lot of side effects can also opt for Homeopathy. Caution will be taken before advising alteration with their current medication.
The duration of treatment depends on diagnosis, severity and duration of the disease. Usually after the first consultation a rough assessment of length of the treatment will be made.
Although it is widely acknowledged that more research is needed, the balance of evidence so far suggests – without question that homeopathy can be a clinically effective and safe treatment option.
